Susan Hong, OD
Dr Hong is a board certified New York licensed optometrist who provides comprehensive eye exams at City Eye MD.
Dr Hong received a dual degree in Doctor of Optometry and Master’s in Vision Science with honors from SUNY College of Optometry. She completed her externship in ocular disease at the New Haven VA Hospital along with the Yale Ophthalmology Department, and at Aran Eye Associates training with Ophthalmologists specializing in retina, glaucoma, cataract and refractive surgery.
Dr Hong has also done Neurogenetics research at Harvard Medical School and discovered a gene that causes a rare neurological disease and has been published numerous times. She received a National Eye Institute grant for her research in blur adaptation.
Since 2004, she has been practicing and gaining extensive experience with patients of all ages in various demographics with ocular diseases and infections, and working with Glaucoma, Retinal, and Pediatric Strabismic specialists as well as co-managing pre and post operative care for cataract and refractive surgery. She is also proficient in complex contact lens fittings.
Dr Hong graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Biochemistry and Psychology from Bowdoin College.
She speaks basic Spanish and Korean.
