Cataract Surgery

Cataracts are caused by a natural aging process that progressively clouds the proteins in the eye's natural lens.  The vision of patients with cataracts is blurred and cannot be improved with glasses or contacts. The treatment for cataracts is a five to ten minute procedure that is usually performed under local anesthesia and removes the contents of the cloudy lens.  In the final step of cataract surgery, a plastic lens is implanted to refocus the patient's vision. This lens implant is custom-tailored to the eye's prescription, allowing the patient to see more clearly without glasses.  Recovery from cataract surgery generally takes just a few days and requires using post operative drops for one month.

We specialize in premium lens, sutureless cataract surgery.  For the right candidate, a multifocal lens implant can eliminate the need for bifocal glasses, reading glasses, or progressive glasses.  A great solution for people with moderate to high astigmatism is an intraocular toric lens that can provide a sharper distant image without glasses.

Because we have years of experience with complex and premium cataract surgery, you can feel safe with our surgeons.  Please tell your doctor if you have ever used Flomax (Tamsulosin), as this medicine can affect your surgery.

Lens Options

Basic Cataract Surgery

Standard monofocal lenses correct distance vision only and are a covered service with insurance companies. They do not correct astigmatism or vision at reading distance.

Laser Assisted + ORA

The CATALYS Laser creates a laser precise incision and creates a customized 3D scan of the relevant structures of the eye. This enables your surgeon to create a tailored treatment plan unique for your eye.

The ORA system enhances your premium cataract surgery by giving your surgeon a live analysis of your eye that is not possible with traditional cataract surgery. It aids your surgeon in placing the best lens implant for your eyes.

Astigmatism Correction

(includes Laser Assisted + ORA)

Treats both cataracts and astigmatism. Astigmatism is a common condition that usually occurs when the corneal surface of your eye is misshapen. The TECNIS Symfony TORIC lens provides high-quality continuous vision.

Refractive/Multifocal Cataract Surgery

(includes Laser Assisted + ORA)

Treats cataracts, astigmatism, and an extended range of vision. Helps reduce dependency on glasses by correcting vision for objects close up and in the distance. The TECNIS Symfony lens provides high-quality continuous vision at any distance and in any lighting condition and is a lens for life. This lens may allow you to wear glasses less often.
